11 Things Tyler Durden Can Teach You About Getting More YouTube Views (and life)

We all know of Tyler Durden and fight club. But wait…what does he has to do with YouTube?

EVERYTHING.

You see, I’ve been in this “get more popularity on youtube” thing for more than a year so I noticed some general principles that reminded me all the time of Fight Club and Tyler Durden. You have them here.

1.Let’s evolve and stop being perfect…there’s not a perfect method for getting more views

I hear it all the time. HERE IS A PERFECT METHOD OF GETTING MORE YOUTUBE VIEWS…that is BS. There is not 100% proven method for doing ANYTHING as far as I know. So if someone tells you there is 100% proven method of getting more views…run away. Or at least try that method for yourself and see that it isn’t working perfectly.

2.Stop being so…BORING

You know why everyone remembered Tyler? Because he was different. He wasn’t boring. You know what? It’s the same on YouTube. How many times I’ve seen people complain…MAAAN I’m getting so little YouTube Views…and when I ask: give me your video it is something like “Hello I’m Matt from mattblabla.com…” What the…? Try to be different. Even being stupid is more interesting than being boring. C’mon!

3.Take some responsibility. Seriously! And accept that LisaNova is better than you

Do you remember a time when Tyler was actually blaming someone? Saying things like…it’s your fault, I’m such a jerk. I don’t. So if you have only 5 views on your videos then don’t blame youtube…but take responsibility and say “hey maybe I’m doing something wrong, I should change some stuff here.”
4.Do you want to be part of the elite? Then be strong.

Fight Club didn’t accept people who whined all the time. Or at least it TRANSFORMED them into non-whiners and strong men. Do you want to be part of the YouTube elite? Then accept that you’re going to have big successes and big FAILURES. So, repeat after me: “No matter what happens, I deeply and completely accept that.” You know, sometimes you have to be a big loser in order to become a big winner.

5.Do what you want to do…STAND OUT

Tyler said: “I f*** like you wanna f***, I am smart, capable, and most importantly, I am free in all the ways that you are not.” Tyler stood out. You can’s compare Tyler to some average chump who has a day job and hates his life. He was different. If you want to have million views you have to be different too. Ask yourself: How can i stand out from the rest of the crowd?

6.You’re not your freakin’ views…

So, you got a million views? You think you’re special? Think again. Maybe people will define you by how many views you have…but defining yourself by these standards is DEADLY. See the celebrities on YouTube. Do they define themselves by the amount of views they have? I don’t think so…

7.Only one fight at a time

Well see, if you want to get to a million views in 3 months, get 3000 friends in 20 days and get on the front page of youtube in a week…sorry you fail. One goal at a time. One fight at a time. FOCUS. Remember that.

8.Don’t let your views and ratings own you

Don’t let them become an addiction to you. Well maybe they are a good boost but if you rely on them too much…it’s over.

9.Inspire. Inspire uniquely.

Tyler inspired us. He inspired everyone. I also noticed that most of the most popular stuff on YouTube inspire in one way or another. You think I’m wrong? Even LisaNova inspires with her ‘wild life.’ Guitar Hero inspires by his skillset. Every popular video inspires uniquely in one way or another. How will you inspire others?

10.Forget what you know. The rules are in your head, let go

We all want in some way to feel free in some way. According to Tyler and many people, what limits us is often our knowledge and what we know. What if in a moment you pretended you know nothing? What if there wasn’t a ‘right introduction’ or a ‘right ending’ for your YouTube video? What if you could be 100% unique?

11.Do you have the courage to be the best self?

We all want fame in one way or another. Many hope that some day will come true. But are you going to be like those people? Or are you going to take action NOW. Tyler did that. And he became a legend.
